Sound Transit found a way to avoid a debacle of long waits and packed trains this fall, when the new Lynnwood light rail extension brings tens of thousands of new passengers.

Why was there a problem?

The region’s new train maintenance base is in Bellevue, where cars for the Lynnwood line were to be stored overnight. However, trains can’t cross Lake Washington to Seattle and Lynnwood every morning, because contractors are two years late finishing the rails across I-90, where service was supposed to begin last year.
