A Link light rail train damaged an overhead electrical wire Tuesday afternoon, causing power outages at the University of Washington and U District stations and leading to an emergency evacuation.

Link trains between Northgate and the University of Washington stations were sharing one track Tuesday evening due to the electrical issues, Sound Transit spokesperson David Jackson said.

The issue was fixed early Wednesday morning and trains are running on both tracks again, spokesperson John Gallagher said Wednesday.

Passengers on the train that caused the damage were less than 300 feet from the underground UW platform when the outages occurred. They were escorted through the train tunnel to the station.
